Harry Potter took the world by surprise and by storm. In my time working at a major chain bookstore, this book sold more copies to adults for their own reading than to children... despite being marketed as a children's book. Several movies later and nearly at the end of the pre-contracted seven book saga, Harry has taken over the world in a way his paycheck-to-mouth creator never suspected. Her first draft started on napkins, then months of scraping to copy and send in the first manuscript. It was rejected and the manuscript was not returned (aren't THEY kicking themselves now, donja think?), then months more of scraping up pennies to make a second photocopy to send in... Now, everyone wants to go to Hogwarts.
